Question

Notice of Question No. 081/2024 by the Member for Bobasi (Hon. Innocent Momanyi, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport: - Could the Cabinet Secretary— (i) Explain why the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) Headquarters office in Nairobi has not taken action to repair the only Bridge (Box Culverts) in Nyamache town that connects the Administration Section and the Commercial Section in Bobasi Constituency; even after it was reported by KeRRA regional office in Kisii vide KeRRA/KSI/RD/VOLIII (38) dated 4th May 2013 and a follow-up reminder sent to Director General KeRRA on 13th September 2023? (ii) Compel the KeRRA Headquarters in Nairobi to release emergency funds totalling to the amount of Kshs. 19,271,254/= for immediate construction of the damaged Bridge which has caused the residents of Bobasi to undergo extreme inconveniences as they have to travel for over three kilometres (3kms) to access alternative bridge which is in very poor conditions and meant for light traffic only? (iii) State other measures that the ministry deems fit to mitigate the circumstaces stated above as efforts to address the matter through KeRRA Headquarters in Nairobi have been in vain?
