What Kenyans Are Saying
Two ways Kenyans speak to Parliament: the petitions they file with it, and the comments they leave under the big newsrooms’ own videos about it — see exactly how both work.
What Kenyans have asked Parliament to do
Petitions filed with Parliament, newest first, read from Parliament’s own petitions record. Each is a formal request from a named member of the public, and each carries no mood score — we never label a request positive or negative. Open a petition for its full text, the committee it went to, and the member who presented it.

What Kenyans are saying under the news
In their own words
Comments are reprinted without the commenter’s name or handle, and each one says which channel’s comment section it came from and under which video. Comments screened as insulting, vulgar or too short to carry a meaning are not reprinted — they still count in the figures above.
No comments have been read yet, so there is nothing to quote. The reason is stated above.
Where this comes from
We read the comment sections under videos published by Kenyan broadcasters on their own YouTube channels — every video they publish, not only the ones about Parliament. A comment takes its subject from the video it sits under, not from its own words: “shame on them” names nothing, but under a Housing Levy story it is plainly about the Housing Levy. That stored subject is what the Subject control above narrows on. Each comment is scored positive / neutral / negative by an AI language model, and is separately screened for insults, vulgar language and threats — in English, Kiswahili and Sheng — before it is stored. The screening verdict is written once, at that point; this page only reads it.
Facebook and Instagram comments on newsrooms’ pages are not included: Meta’s API returns comments only to the owner of the page, and we do not scrape pages we were not given access to. Replies on X are not included either — reading them needs a paid X API tier that this site does not buy.
Full pipeline and its limits: methodology.
