Tubi Bidu, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration: - Could the Cabinet Secretary – (i) explain why the Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT), a non-governmental organization, has been allowed to operate a fully-fledged armed security units with specialized military training in parts of the Upper Eastern, Northern and Coastal Region? (ii) clarify whether the NRT’s involvement in security, management of pasture lands and livestock marketing gives it a level of control over the Northern Region and some parts of the Coast that surpasses even that of the Kenyan Government? (iii) address concerns that the continued operation of the NRT has heightened insecurity and conflict among different ethnic groups in the areas of operations in Northern Kenya?
