Question

The Member for Malava (Hon. Malulu Injendi, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport: - Could the Cabinet Secretary— (i) Provide an update on the progress of construction of class A1 Kakamega-Kaburengu Road whose construction commenced in October 2012 and state when the project will be completed? (ii) State when the contractor will provide the road furniture which includes road markings, traffic signs, guard rails, road shoulders, among others, considering the high number of accidents on the road? (iii) Specify the timeline for the construction of the service road in Malava Town and the anticipated completion of the pending construction of pipe culverts along the road? (iv) State when the reconstruction and expansion of the bridge connecting Mbande Market and Matete Town are scheduled to take place considering that the current size of the bridge poses significant risks to motorists and pedestrians, especially during market days? (v) Provide reasons why the contractor did not include plans for a 300-meter bypass connecting the Kakamega-Kaburengu road at the interchange to the Class A104 Eldoret-Bungoma Road?
