Robert Gichumu, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development: - Could the Cabinet Secretary— (i) confirm that the prices of macadamia nuts purchased from farmers in recent years has sharply declined from over Kshs. 200/= per kilogram to below Ksh. 50 per kilogram? (ii) explain why there has been such a sharp decline in macadamia nut prices and outline measures aimed at boosting these prices, considering the vital role they play as a source of income for many farmers? (iii) elucidate on why the regulations in respect of macadamia nuts as mandated by Section 40 of the Crops Act (CAP 318) is yet to be formulated and when are they expected to be formulated and implemented to protect farmers from unscrupulous dealers?
