Why these milestones matter
Parliament's Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee has said electoral law should be enacted at least two years before a general election. That date has passed with reform Bills still unfinished. Source
The IEBC declared the winners on 1 December 2025 in Gazette Notice 17611: the Baringo senate seat, and the National Assembly seats of Magarini, Banissa, Mbeere North, Malava, Ugunja and Kasipul. The same notice declared fifteen county assembly seats, which this section does not track. Source
Set by the IEBC in its election notice of 20 August 2026, Gazette Notice 13497 clause (f): parties file their certified membership lists with the Commission 120 days before the poll. Source
Gazetted for 10 August 2027. On 7 August 2026 the High Court declared that date unconstitutional under Article 136(2)(a) but suspended its declaration, so the 2027 date stands. Source
