Senator Crystal Asige is serving her first term as a nominated Senator in the 13th Parliament of Kenya, having been nominated by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party in 2022 to represent persons with disabilities. In the Senate, she currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Labour and Social Welfare. She is also a member of the Senate Business Committee, the Committee on Roads, Transportation and Housing, and the Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights. Senator Asige has sponsored several bills, including the Startup Bill (Senate Bills No. 14 of 2022), the Learners with Disabilities Bill (Senate Bills No. 4 of 2023), the Persons with Disabilities Bill (Senate Bills No. 7 of 2023), the Kenyan Sign Language Bill (Senate Bills No. 9 of 2023), the County Governments Election Laws (Amendment) Bill (Senate Bills No. 2 of 2024), and the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill (Senate Bills No. 17 of 2024).
