Hon. Joseph Lemasolai Lekuton, CBS, is serving his third term as a Member of the National Assembly, having been first elected in 2007, re-elected in 2013, and regaining the seat in 2022 to represent Laisamis Constituency. In the 10th Parliament, he served on the Departmental Committee on Health and the Joint Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity. During the 11th Parliament, he was a member of the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations as well as the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security. In the 13th Parliament, he is not currently serving on any House committee. He has co-sponsored the Carbon Credit Trading and Benefit Sharing Bill, 2023, and has also advocated for a legislative clearing-house mechanism through a proposed private Member’s Bill aimed at minimizing conflicts between national and county laws.
