Hon. Joseph Iraya Wainaina, popularly known as “Iraya Wainaina”, is a UDA-nominated Member of the National Assembly, serving since October 2022. Rising from humble beginnings as a taxi driver in the North Rift, he later became a successful entrepreneur and grassroots mobilizer instrumental in UDA’s formation and campaigns. In Parliament, he contributes on both the Environment and National Cohesion Committees. In recognition of his vital role in fostering inter-community peace—especially following the 2007–08 post-election violence—and his business-driven resilience, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Northwestern Christian University in December 2023. Recognized as a close ally of President William Ruto, Hon. Wainaina continues to champion unity, environmental responsibility, and community development across Kenya.
