Hon. Adan Keynan Wehliye, CBS, is serving his sixth term as a Member of the National Assembly, having first been elected in 1997 to represent Wajir West, and subsequently serving Eldas since its creation in 2013.
Over the years, he has held key committee roles: during the 10th Parliament, he chaired the Defence and Foreign Relations Committee; in the 11th Parliament, he chaired the Public Investments Committee; and across various terms, he has been a member of the Committee on Energy, Communications & Information, the Committee on Labour & Social Welfare, the House Business Committee, and the Administration, National Security & Local Government Committee. He also sat on the Finance, Planning & Trade Committee between 1998 and 2002, and has served for multiple terms on the Parliamentary Service Commission, including as Vice-Chair in 2011–12.
He was awarded the Chief of the Burning Spear (CBS) honor in 2013 and is recognized as one of the longest-serving MPs in Kenya, currently holding the record for the most terms in the 13th Parliament.
