Hon. Edward Wakili Muriu is serving his first term as the Member of the National Assembly, having been elected in August 2022 to represent Gatanga Constituency under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). He is not currently a member of any parliamentary House committees in the 13th Parliament. However, he has been active in parliamentary legislation and motions: in October 2022, he moved a motion to expand NG‑CDF bursary funding to primary and junior secondary schools, calling for revised capitation rates to support Universal Basic Education. In March 2025, he urged the disbandment of the Social Health Authority and a return to NHIF funding following concerns about mismanagement. Additionally, in June 2025, he introduced a private Member’s Bill to amend the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act by imposing tiered penalties for repeat offenders of illicit alcohol production.
