Hon. Mwiti, Dr Shadrack

Hon. Dr. Shadrack Mwiti Ithinji is the Member of the National Assembly for South Imenti Constituency, Meru County, elected in August 2022 on a Jubilee Party ticket. A veterinary doctor by training, he earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Strategic Management (Contract Management) from Moi University, following an MBA in Strategic Management (Budget Planning & Investment), also from Moi University, and a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery from the University of Baghdad . He began his career in public service as a Veterinary Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture (1985–1997), later serving as Assistant Director of Veterinary Services. Mwiti transitioned into the private sector as Managing Director of Kenpack Colour Printers (2000–2009) and then MD & CEO of Debra Limited until March 2022 . A development‑oriented leader, he campaigned on boosting cottage industries such as banana, cassava, honey processing, and boda‑boda spare‑parts manufacturing to foster youth employment and local value addition . Since taking office, he’s emphasized enhancing access to clean water, education, healthcare, and job creation through community‑focused initiatives. His election marked a shift away from incumbency, defeating well‑known contenders to become the constituency’s first Jubilee MP in the 13th Parliament .
