Hon. Prof. Jaldesa Guyo Waqo is the current Member of Parliament for Moyale Constituency in Marsabit County, first elected on the UDA ticket in August 2022. A distinguished obstetrician‐gynecologist, he trained at the University of Nairobi (MBChB, M.Med) and earned an MSc from the University of Edinburgh. He served as a Senior Medical Specialist at Kenyatta National Hospital before transitioning to academia, where he rose through the ranks to Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Nairobi. An active researcher and clinical mentor, Prof. Guyo has authored numerous publications and is highly respected for his advocacy against female genital mutilation in the Borana community. Since entering politics, he has applied his medical expertise to push for improved maternal health services, enhanced community healthcare infrastructure, educational support, conflict resolution, and upliftment programs in arid and semi‑arid (ASAL) regions.
