The 2022 population is KNBS's own projection for that year (Volume XVI, Appendix 5), carried forward from the 2019 census and summed over 47 counties. It estimates how many people live in Kenya; it is not a count of people enumerated. 47,564,296 people were counted in the 2019 census.

The adults bar stays on 2019 because no projected one exists: Volume XVI prints five-year age bands, so 18 falls inside 15–19 and no voting-age figure is published for any later year. Its age table also excludes intersex persons. County registers exclude separate diaspora and prison registers. These groups overlap and must not be added.
